Electrical and Computer Engineering

Piril Nergis is a 2nd year Research Assistant in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department. Since beginning their graduate studies, Piril has been developing a novel antenna that pushes the boundaries of the level of detail, both in terms of resolution and the set of hydrologic unknowns, that can be measured from a un-crewed aerial vehicle for environmental monitoring beyond just soil moisture, like snow depth, permafrost imaging and more.

They are also an avid outdoors-person who loves to hike, surf, cook, and, unsurprisingly, get dirty in the field. When they are not researching, they’re often on the ground talking with their fellow Graduate Student Workers to empower their community to collectively improve working conditions for all, joining the movement to change the inequitable, transactional culture of academia.
